Why a job board only for hostels?
Anyone who runs a hostel knows the problem: finding good staff is hard — keeping good staff is often even harder. For many people, the hostel world is an entry point into hospitality. They arrive full of enthusiasm, learn how to deal with guests from all over the world, grow into the role — and as soon as they have found their feet, many move on to hotels, where structures are larger and salaries often higher. On the other side, there is a completely different reality. How did the idea come about?
Behind the platform is Alexander Dolle-Koch, director of a hostel in Berlin. From daily operations he knows both sides. For years he looked for a way to reach suitable candidates faster and more efficiently, without spreading every vacancy across a dozen platforms and then laboriously filtering the right people out of a flood of unsuitable applications. The conviction grew: there needs to be a place made only for the hostel industry — where employers and candidates speak the same language.

He was not alone with this idea. The Hostel Round Table Berlin brings together many senior hostel staff and owners — people who face the same challenges every day. They meet to exchange ideas, learn from one another and look together for solutions that help not just a single house but the whole industry. Hostel Talent is one of the results: a tool made by people from the hostel world, for the hostel world.
